Russell Poland
Dr. Poland recently joined the Hospital Corporation of America as President and Chief Research Officer of HCA’s newly established not-for-profit research institute “HCA Partners for Accelerating Clinical Excellence (PACE)”, with a primary focus on health service research and population medicine.
Dr. Poland received a bachelor’s degree in Bacteriology from U Cal-Berkeley and his doctorate in Pharmacology from UCLA. For over 20 years he was a faculty member in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and was actively involved in basic, clinical and translational research in areas ranging from basic brain development to pharmacogenetics, with much of his research pertaining to the psychobiology of depression. He later served as President of Texas Health Research and Education Institute, and subsequently Vice President for Research at Meharry Medical College (Nashville TN).
