Assistant Professor

Izzuddin M Aris, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Population Medicine at the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute and Harvard Medical School. He received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences, and his graduate degree in Epidemiology from the National University of Singapore. His research focuses on prenatal predictors of childhood growth, overweight/obesity and related cardio-metabolic disease. His previous work in a Singapore birth cohort has led to publications demonstrating the associations of perinatal determinants such as pre-pregnancy weight, gestational weight gain, gestational glycemia and breastfeeding duration, with childhood adiposity and risk of subsequent overweight obesity. In addition, his research interests include characterizing lifecourse growth trajectories utilizing various longitudinal trajectory modelling techniques. He is currently working with Emily Oken on research projects focused on identifying trajectory patterns and characteristics and their relationships with subsequent health and cardio-metabolic outcomes in the Project Viva cohort. Izzuddin is originally from Singapore.
