Maureen Connelly, Inui Lecture Speaker
Maureen Connelly,
MD, MPH

Please join us for a hybrid Thomas S. Inui Lecture on Thursday, May 4 at 9:00am. This year’s guest speaker is Maureen Connelly, MD, MPH. She will present, Shifting the Paradigm: Centering a New Medical School in an Integrated Health System.

Dr. Connelly is a general internist and the Senior Associate Dean for Academic and Community Affairs at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. In her current role, Dr. Connelly oversees faculty appointments and policies as well as the school’s strategic engagement with community partners. She is a Professor of Health Systems Science and teaches Service-Learning in collaboration with a federally qualified health center.

She spent 25 years at Harvard Medical School, where she served in the Office for Faculty Affairs for 13 years, with the last 8 years as Dean for Faculty Affairs. In this role, she supported faculty career development, oversaw policies related to faculty appointments and promotions, represented the Dean on senior faculty searches, and worked one-on-one with faculty to provide career support. Dr. Connelly’s academic appointment was in the Department of Population Medicine at the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute, which she first joined as a fellow soon after the Department was founded and later joined as faculty. Her research focus was on women’s health and patient decision-making. She previously practiced as a primary care physician and, in collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, she developed a menopause consultation service. She is a founding member and former leader of the New England Network on Faculty Affairs and most recently served as the Chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Group on Faculty Affairs. Dr. Connelly’s current research focus is on faculty development, mentoring, and equitable approaches to faculty recruitment and promotion.
