Edward Septimus
Dr. Septimus is a practicing adult infectious diseases physician and hospital epidemiologist with a focus on infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship, patient safety and sepsis. He is a faculty member at Texas A&M College of Medicine and is the former Medical Director, Infection Prevention and Epidemiology and VP of Research and Infectious Diseases at HCA Healthcare.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University and received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Throughout his career, Dr. Septimus has served on the faculties of Baylor College of Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston, Texas A&M College of Medicine-Houston and the George Mason University School of Public Health.
Dr. Septimus was the Co-Investigator and the HCA lead for the REDUCE MRSA and ABATE studies, as well as a Co-Investigator on the SWAP OUT and INSPIRE studies – large multi-hospital trials conducted in collaboration with the HPHC Institute.
