The Impact of Including Pregnancy as a Qualifying Life Event for Marketplace Special Enrollment on Child and Maternal Health

This project will explore the role of the Affordable Care Act Marketplaces in providing health insurance for pregnant people, facilitating access to timely, high-quality prenatal care, and improving maternal and infant health outcomes. We will take advantage of a natural experiment created by state variation in Marketplace eligibility rules to examine the impact of a policy to include pregnancy as a Marketplace special enrollment period qualifying event.
