Antimicrobial Resistance and Stewardship

In collaboration with the NIH Clinical Center’s Critical Care Medicine Department, our team has contributed to major epidemiologic and clinical studies on:

• The burden of antibiotic-resistant pathogens in hospitalized patients and novel surveillance metrics for antimicrobial resistance   
• The frequency and adverse outcomes associated with both inadequate and unnecessarily broad empiric antimicrobial treatment for sepsis   
• Patterns of broad-spectrum antibiotic de-escalation in suspected sepsis and its association with patient outcomes
